Lydia Essary began her study of Argentine dance with Brooke Burdett and has pursued it further with Graciela Gonzales, Gustavo Naveira, Fabian Salas, Mauricio Castro, Mariano" Chicho" Frumboli, Javier Rochwarger, Gabriel Glagovsky, Nito and Elba Garcia, Cristina Cortes, Norberto "El Pulpo" Ésbréz, Luciana Valle, Florencia Taccetti, Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo, Aurora Lubiz, and others in the studios and milongas of Buenos Aires and the United States. She has also studied ballet, modern and flamenco dance.
Lydia grew up listening to her father's tango record collection and shares her father's intense appreciation for Miguel Calo. She studied music and dance from an early age. Prior to pursuing her present career in medicine, she trained as a classical pianist with Teresa Quezada and Amalia Vasquez at the prestigious National Conservatory of Music in Lima, Peru. She has a special admiration for the music of Bach, Beethoven and Piazzolla.
Lydia balances her passion for tango and cultivation of the arts with a busy professional life.
